So Far there is no information from Ireland. But-
DUFFY’s Of Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio were
descendants of James Duffy (1827-1890) & Mary Ann Woodburn (1827-1912), I THINK. These two have a stone on Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls, and are my great-great-grandfather, born in Donegal, Ireland, immigrated to Canada circa 1845. They had 6 living adult sons. Frederick, Augustus, Alexander, James, William, and #7 Andrew (who died young).
Grandson:
1. Russell H. Duffy, Sr. (1895-1961)
Veteran World War I
He was the city’s first police chief, who served from 1922 to 1946.
Menzo D. Preston (1899-1999), was born in Reynoldsburg, Ohio or Cuyahoga Falls.
He graduated from Falls High in 1918.
He served in the Army during World War I. During his military service, he spent two wild days pursuing Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa south of the border.
Preston worked for the Cuyahoga Falls school board as a truant officer before joining the police department in 1938.
He married Leona or Lona Thompson.
CHILDREN:
1. Thornton E (Ed) Preston, b. September 30,1917 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, m. Lillian V UNKNOWN, d. October 5, 2011 in Lecanto (Inverness), Florida. Navy Veteran of WWII, & machinist. Lived in Manahawkin, NJ until 1988.
2. Menzo Preston Jr.
3. Howard Preston
4. Purleet Preston
For some reason the James Duffy has been really difficult to track in Ireland.
It seems James & Mary Ann moved back and forth to Ohio from Canada several times. It is likely James was diabetic.
