I just came across your post on Richard Meenan. I wish that I had done so in 2008.
My great great grandfather was John Meenan, he was from Gortmacrane.
Since the Kilrea records
start in 1846, I do not have my great-grandmother's birth cert, (Bridget's,) or any of
John and Margaret Meenan's children born before that date, but I believe the Joseph and Lawrence you mention are among my great grandmother's brothers. The Andrew and Catherine that are mentioned in the thread are listed below.
I believe those listed below are (SOME of) Bridget's siblings. Bridget was born about 1845, the first year of An Gorta Mor. She married Dominic McKenna, who was living in Gortmacrane at that time, and they moved to Tullyheron Townland near Glen Chapel (St. Pat's) outside Maghera. I have the particulars on the family.

Richard was a stonemason from Gortmacrane. He married Elizabeth Diamond from Gortmacrane (father James, a farmer)4 Feb 1877 (Witnesses were Frank Cassidy and Margaret Darragh. Frank was also a Sponsor of some of
the other siblings above. I think the Cassady's - or Cassidy's are kin.)
Catherine Anne from Gortmacrane married Francis McDonald, a labourerfrom Gortmacrane (father Charles, also a labourer)4 October 1879 atKilrea Registry Office. Witnesses were Henry Henry (Sponsor of Veronica's Baptism) and Kate O'Kane.
For others searching the Meenan line, if you are unfamiliar with the area, some of the witnesses and sponsors are from
Rasharkin, which is a few miles from Kilrea (across the River Bann) in CountyAntrim.
I had wondered what happened to my Grandfather's mother's family and I am most grateful for the information provided by Kate and Karen in this thread. I have shared that information with a distant Meenan cousin in Ireland. I would be delighted to hear from you all and would appreciate
learning about your ties to the Meenan line.
All the best,
John D. Worrall
