I search the IFHF's online database at ROOTSIRELAND.IE. It has abt 20 M church, civil, census, etc for MOST Irish counties. Records before 1863 are increasingly sparse and almost non-existant before 1800.

For James Halpin B 1826 +/- 2 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, with a father forenamed Edward and mother BRIGID, I found 1 record in 1827 Co. Roscommon. This MAY be for your ancestor. A view of the detailed record (usually at a small fee) should show the name of the parish, and SOMETIMES details about the parents.

No luck in finding a marriage record for Edward and BRIGID.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
