Hi Elwyn,
Thanks for your reply.
I first posted this this item on Genforum in 2009.
I had a reply from William Hartley, to look up a site brsgenealogy.com/index.php. He sent me this information
1. Church Baptism Houlihan James 1833 Co Cork
2. Church Marriage Houlihan John 1831 Co Cork
3. Church Marriage PurcelMary1831 Co Cork.
The birth of James coincides with his age at death.
I went to this site William had advised, but could not find what I was Looking for.
On James's death certificate his father John Hoolihan and mother Mary Purcell. Birth was registered at Castle Connell.
This family was Catholic, and I assume lived somewhere in the vicinity of the Castle Connell region at the time of James's birth.
After John Hoolihan's death the family moved to Flagmount Co Clare. Mary re-married into the O'Meara family, this family had come to Flagmount from Tipperary.
I re-listed on this site to see if anyone can help, as James came to Australia in 1860 aboard the "Hannah More" and little else is know of his life in Ireland.
Regards,
Leo.
