MARGARET GAGLIARDI 1/19/13
No headway, just ramblings ... sorry.
Annoyed that I can't see any of the McDs, Mullins, McCabes in the CAN 1861 census?
In ancestry's land grant records - 2 McD's -- living in 1835 -- Owen & James ... brothers?And Rbt Mullen was noted living there in 1836.
There is a family tree @ ancestry that has Michael's death:
Owen Michael McDermott
Birth 1792 in County Meath, Ireland
Death 23 Feb 1857 in Québec (Hôpitaux) (Québec (Hôpital St-Michel-Archange)), Québec, Canada
Died in hospital - Feb 1857
"Owen" McD of Rawdon ... etc

Marg Sr's death cert says "widow of Owen McD" and she died in Aug of the same year, 1857.
*****************Meath ...?Hmmmmm***************
So Mary was born in IRE in 1821 -- but no one has her death?I think you need her paper trail.Either she is their daughter, or it's Marg's 2nd marriage and she is adopted. If it's the daughter, then her paper trail is just as important AND it emphasizes GUNN's paper trail as important too.
Looking at the 1851, you have daughter Mary McD, married living w/her husband Mullins in Rawdon and a 66 yro Susan McDermott b. IRE, living next door w/a 60 yro Rbt Mullin?----- nowsee McD/Mullin marriage record where it states parents RBT Mullin & Susan McDermott ... OKAY, I'm assuming that Susan and Michael Owen are siblings?JAMES Mullins (AND SISTER SARAH) WERE BORN IN IRE TOO, SO I THINK YOU LOOK FOR THE MULLIN/MCD MARRIAGE/BIRTH TOO.(***I am bothered that Mary McD Mullins is not listed as her maiden name on this same 1851 census, same page as Susan McDermott is listed??Is there any chance there were TWO Susan McDs?One a spinster immigrant sibling to Owen (living with Rbt Mullins as a housekeeper) and the other married to Rbt Mullin?)
Interesting that Meath is the only place I find a Mullen/McD marriage (with different given names - not provided) and these children:
25 credits Church Baptism Mullin Thady 1818 Co. Meath
25 credits Church Baptism Mullen Bernard 1819 Co. Meath
25 credits Church Baptism Mullin Bridget 1822 Co. Meath
25 credits Church Baptism Mullin James 1824 Co. Meath
Also, Mary above's daugther Mary b. 1849, one of her godparents is an Ann Gunn ... so
I see an earlier post of yours -- was one of those daughters born in IRE?
rootsireland.ie - searching marriages b/t those last names - the only possibility:
25 credits Church Marriage McDermott Eugene 1816 Co. Roscommon
