Henry Taylor, 1787-1845, seeking origin?
My 3rd great grandfather was Henry Clay Taylor, born July 1787, died in 1845, buried on his farm in New Knoxville, Ohio. His oldest son, William, is enumerated next to him in the 1840 Census in Duchonquet Township. Henry's daughter, Elizabeth, married Jeremiah Sager, and another daughter, Jane, married James Swan - both of these daughters moved to Illinois with their husbands. A younger daughter, Caroline Charlotte, married Luther Winget, an enterprising heir to a manufacturing company including lightning rods.
My gg grandfather Thomas Henry Taylor married Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of John Campbell and Elizabeth McCullough, who were early pioneers of Allen County and friends of John Johnston.
The Campbell, McCullough, and Johnston families are said to have known each other in Ireland (or Scotland) before migrating to Pennsylvania in very early 1800's.
I am SEARCHING for the origin of Henry Taylor. One census says he was born in Ireland (1880, Thomas Taylor); other children don't list their father's place of birth.
It is believed Henry's wife was Ruth Ella HODGE, born in Pennsylvania, ca. 1790, but I cannot locate marriage records, or her parentage.
ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!!!
