Lynn and Scott families of Ireland and Scotland
My ggreat grandfather Charles Lynn was born 1841 in County Antrim to John Lynn (born in Scotland according what my grandmother told us) and Katherine Scott (born in Ireland according to grandmother and records confirmed - children also born Ireland). In 1851, Catherine Scott, born in Ireland, is found living in Larbert, Stirlingshire, Scotland with only a 12-year-old daughter named Agnes Lynn. In 1861, she is found still in Larbert but with sons Stewart and Andrew Lynn, ages 15 and 20. Charles had joined the British Army before 1860, fought in the China War that year, and immediately went to the U.S. and enlisted there. Had her sons initially remained in Ireland for some reason? We know the 1851 and 1861 Catherines are the same not only because of age, birthplace, and residence but because her son Andrew later lived with her daughter Agnes and was listed as brother-in-law to Agnes's husband.
Through records from Scotland's People, we have learned that Katherine Scott's parents names are Archibald Scott and Marion Taylor. Is there any information that you we would be able to locate to help us advance our research?
Cindy
