In both the 1900 and 1920 census, Josephine indicates that she was born in Michigan (February 1870), so you are looking for an immigration date prior to that time. In the 1880 census, John & Elizabeth's oldest child, also named John, is aged 17, and he indicates that he was born in Michigan as well (ie, approx. 1863).
