Hi Paul and Marie
just to be accurate I live in Drogheda in Louth and i am just south of it on the border. The battle of the Boyne took place in Oldbridge on the boundary of Louth and Meath.
Marie I do not know anything on the names but was amazed to find Twiss in the book of Irish surnames which says that it is an english locative name for a dweller by the bend in hte road. It was established in County Kerry before Cromwell's time circa 1650 I think and is now numerous there so I am learning too.
