I believe they first landed in Canada. Patrick McAvey (b. Nov 1824, son of Peter and Lillian was said to have been born on the Atlantic and also Quebec. I first found them in St.Albans, Maine.
I have been able to follow them in the U.S. Peter and wife, who was maybe a 2nd wife Catherine/Mary last lived in Charleston, Maine. Their death and burial location is unknown.
What I'm searching for at this time is where in Ireland did they come from, what ship did they arrive on, who are their parents.
On one census, 1870-U.S.- Charleston, Maine, it listed where Peter had come from but the hand writing was not very neat, some people think it says Killbride. Peter and Catherine do not show up on the 1880 census. Haven't found death records or obits.
Also Lillian is a mystery I'm not sure if she died or if her name was Lillian Catherine- Mary and she dropped the Lillian. Her last name is a mystery too many believe it is Polvier but I think it may be Palmer.
Peter's naturalization (1853) records (says he moved to the U.S. in 1825) although the originals are missing the index card says his name was Patrick but he went by Peter. Birthdates unknown but estimated about 1804, however the index card says he was under the age 46 when he became a citizen in 1853.
Thank you for anything you can offer about where in Ireland they come from and family there.~Lori
