In trying to track down the origins of my Paine family, a relative told me this story:
"..... told me that the family had come through Cornwall to Ireland. She said our ancestor fell in love with a Welch school teacher whom her parents did not approve. They eloped to Ireland. She thought they were there for a generation or so and then immigrated to the USA. She seemed to think they came down from Maine to MA....."
My GGG Grandfather John Paine was born in Ireland, lived in South Boston, MA and Bangor, ME briefly, and the remainder of his life in Cambridge, MA. He married Ellen Hurley whose parents were James Hurley and Mary Donovan. If this story sounds familiar to anyone please contact me.
