Four rooms was a decent sized house in that time and place. I met a woman in Dublin who still lived on the same street she was born on. She told me she and her five sisters and four brothers lived in a two-up, two-down house along with her parents. The six girls had two treble bunks in the bigger bedroom, the boys had the other bedroom, and their parents slept on a fold-out bed in the living room. That would've been in the late '40s.
