Part of the townland is now commercial forest but most of it remains agricultural land. The general tendency in Ireland has been to demolish the older buildings and replace them with modern houses or bungalows on the same site. At best, where they survive, the old farm cottages have been relegated to outhouses. However quaint the older cottages may have looked they weren’t very sturdy nor suitable for modern living and in general have long been abandoned or demolished.

You can get an overview of Barr of Farrow today on Google earth.
