Carolyn, the only family for 100% certain are the four children born in co Cork and the children born in Boherbue parish,co Kerry. The others may be the same family or not.If they are they moved around alot but during/ after the famine many took "to the road" in search of work and food, especially in the west.I would look at records of Boherbue parish,co Kerry as it seems to be the place where they settled. As for census returns, sadly between 1821-1891 there are no census records available except for a few remnants. The first four censuses were destroyed in a fire in 1922 and the last four had been destroyed by government order prior to 1922.As to Jeremiah Connell,I think they may have been cousins.I found the following:

Jeremiah Connell
parents:Jeremiah Connell/Catherine Sullivan
baptised:3 July 1841
sponsors:Con Callaghan/Johanna Sullivan

this looks like perhaps the brother of John married the sister of Mary thus Jeremiah and Denis are 1st cousins.Hope this helps,Kim
