Michael Padden born about 1781 married Mary Hart in Ireland possibly county Mayo. The children enumerated in Schuylkill, West Pennsylvania in the 1850 Federal Census were: Gamel, Michael, Mary, John, Riddy, Thomas were all born in Ireland. Patrick's obituary says he was born in county Mayo Feb 12, 1836. The family emigrated when he was 12 years old. He lived for a time in New York City. The family was in Hazleton, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. In 1856 Patrick settled in Tallmadge Township, Ottawa County, Michigan. He helped build the Grand Trunk Railroad. In 1862 he enlisted in the 16th US Volunteer Infantry. He married Lucy A. Maher or Maxer.

Patrick's sister, Catherine(Kathryn), married Michael Hines. They were in Beaver Meadows, Carbon County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Michigan and settled in Wright Township, in Ottawa County, a few miles north of her brother. Her death certificate reports her birth per years, months and days was November 2, 1832.
