1911 Census dorisfone1added this on 8 Oct 2011

The 1911 census records 11 children of which five have died and one is married and has left home. The family lived in three rooms including a kitchen, but not counting scullery, landing, lobby or closet. So these would have been very cramped conditions. Michael Kelly's is named as a Striker (type of smith) and he works for a coach builder. His son James was a joiner and Wheelwright at some time and possibly worked at the same place than his father, but on the 1911 census he appears as a warehouse assistant. Michael's son John is unemployed but his daughter Marie (Maria) works as a fibre draper. The census is completed and signed by his daughter - i.e. Miss Maria Kelly. dorisfone1added this on 8 Oct 2011 The actual marriage was not performed until 1896, at which point Michael and Esther had several children already. It is understood that Esther's parents were married in a CoE church and there is evidence also that Esther was 'baptized' quite late in life. She was possibly a convert or her parents were. Additional there was a lot of prejudice against non-conformists and catholicc, which would have been another reason for a late marriage!"

***********The marriage cert they cite above has Michael's father clearly listed as JACOBI ...Any name ending in “us” used as the father's name should end in “i” .... James son of James should read : Jacobus filius Jacobi ... soooo does that mean James (Mike's father was also a James, or am I reading to literally?)
