Ann,I looked at records for county Kerry and the only Edmond I could find was for a marriage between Edmond Courtney and Mary Long at Ballyferriter,co Kerry 22 Feb 1846 but no birth and I checked 1810-1850.I then looked at passenger lists and this is the only Edmond I could find;
Edmond Courtney
age 26 born @1825
ship departed Liverpool
arrived in New York
on 12 Dec 1851
ship name:Marathon
he is travelling with a William Courtney whose age appears to be 15.

I then went onto a pay website and found the following births for Edmond Courtney;
co Limerick 1833,1834,1839
co Cork 1829,1835,1838,1844,1845
Mind this website doesn't have co Kerry on it but the other one I checked for Kerry is fairly good for co Kerry records.Courtneys appear in the co Kerry records but are very few which leads me to think that maybe co Kerry is not their place of origin.Maybe the left for US via Kerry and came from Limerick and Cork which both border Kerry.It might be worth considering.Hope this helps,Kim
