H.G. Wells 1866-1946 family origins in Ireland?

I see that Edward Wells & his wife Mary are believed to have had six children and that they are well documented. I have some circumstantial evidence that suggests my husband's 3 x great grandmother Mary Wells MAY have been part of this family. Any evidence to prove/disprove the theory would be appreciated.
She was said to be born in IRELAND circa 1798 (from 1851 census)
She married Thomas Studds at Kingsdown near Sevenoaks on 25th Dec 1818. One of the witnesses was Ann Wells (was this her sister perhaps?)
Her first child (named EDWARD) was baptised 26 Feb 1819 in Sevenoaks. (The name Edward does not appear before this date in the Studds family. The next son was named after his father and paternal grandfather)
I realise this is no more than circumstantial evidence but I have been trying to find Mary’s origins for about 30 years so any help (even to disprove this flight of fancy) would be very welcome. From 1820 onwards Mary was in Marylebone where her husband was a coachman. They had 13 children. Mary died in 1852.
