The 1861 Canadian census from Cavan Township, Durham County, Canada West (Ontario) indicates their religion to be "F.C." = Free Church = Presbyterian. This would more than likely place them from what is now Northern Ireland.

The 1871 Census from Cavan Township shows them with five children: Robert, aged 15; Ann, aged 10; Jane, aged 7; Alexander, aged 2; Margaret; aged 1.
