Alright - John Clifford is the son of Charles JR. and Rosa - the dates fit.
James Elmer is harder: he is either the son of George Gill b-1/1868 in KY and Mary S b-5/1868; the only other place I found a James E was in a 1900 census and he was living at the St. Joseph's Orphanage and Asylum in Cold Springs precint, Campbell, KY. He is listed as an inmate, no parents listed, but everyone is listed as an inmate, how cruel. It is late now,and I will look up St. Joseph's Orphanage on line tomorrow. I have sent for John M's death certificate nd on Monday I will call the Cathedral Basicila of the whatever and ask for records. I emailed caww.com for cemetery records for Mt. Olivet and some suburban MD Catholic Cemeteries to see if the boys were buried there. If they were livig with John M. that was at the height of his prominance so they are probably at Mt. Olivet or St. Patrick's parish cemetery - most of those records were destroyed in a fire though.
Did I mention to you I am also researching my fathr's family in PA and my mother's father's family, the Connells in DC? Crazy I know. I work on one a while and when I seem to be getting nowhere I switch to another family. You have me back on the MCGills wo have been the most difficult. I should have my head examined. I found a websight on Rover/Connell, my greatgrandmother was a Rover, and they seem to have a lot - and a lot of mistakes. But they say they have pictures which are not posted. And for the life of me I cannot log into the sight. I even had a computer tech who is a friend of mine try and we could not post anything or log in. Frustration. Well it is almost 2am and I need to go to bed.
"Talk" to you soon - you need to push me into using my untouched 3 month Ancestry disc set my sister gave me - I am afraid I wil blow up the computer or else not be able to follow the trail.
Good night,
Carolyn
