The Groom's turned out to be a lot easier to find out about than my Father's family. I started on the computer in 2010 and believe me I knew nothing, not even how to turn it on. Unbelievable huh! I started looking for my Father's family first. Without luck and the help of many people too numerous to mention I would be no where.
These relatives of our's were really something with their silence. I'm Irish and Scottish. The Scottish was the real winner. My Dad's Mother was born in Schotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 3/29/1871. Her Father Francis Evers was present at the birth. Finding her took almost a year. People in Scotland were helping me and could find nothing. Finally one did. The birth wasn't registered until 4/15/1871. Her Father came to America and sent for the family. Arrived on the ship Georgia 10/27/1880. There were 3 children. When they arrived it was to find out Francis had died a month before their arrival. How sad is that. Poor woman, 3 children, strange country and no husband. She being a great seamstress was how she supported herself and children. Heart breaking!
