Dave,I found various co Clare records on www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm,which is very good for many records about co Clare ie griffiths Valuation and Tithe Applotment books.Also,you may wish to try the microfilms at the National Library.As for the two Marys,I would say the first passed away and they named a second Mary,which was a very common practice.If I can help further let me know.i am in Dublin.Kim
