Peter,the name Merchant is very uncommon in Ireland and he's the only James I could locate.Alas,I do not work for rootsireland,I recommend their site as they have all the records of parishes that have been microfilmed.Its whats at the Archives.The only other thing you could do is go to your nearest LDS(Latter Day Saints)library and order the microfilm for county Waterford you wish to look at and locate the births that way.Some of the parish registers can be a bit hard to read but it would save the expense of copies.Hope this helps,Kim
