I appreciate all the wonderful info!!!
I looked at a satellite image of Co Sligo [Google Maps]and and you could see that there was a likelihood that many divisions were indeed due to natural reasons. I assumed that it must also go back to previously claimed/won boundaries as well as those bestowed.
It is unlikely that much further info will ever be found. My 2x G grandfather seems to have come to the Boston area first and then his wife and 5 children. I am working to contact a cousin who may have the family bible. I have found their arrival info. Unfortunately, my grandmother was the lone survivor of her family, orphaned at 11 [childbirth took her mother and disease took her siblings]raised by a great aunt resentful of her brothers ways [my great grandfather]who died shortly after his family.
My next adventure will be to get the naturalization records for the siblings who arrived and see what info I may find there. I did some quick research on the property owner... looks like murder was not the issue;)
If it were only so easy to track down the McConnell, Brogan, Boland, Patton and Morrison lines I have from Ireland! Finding the women is tough, even here in the US.
Thanks you again for all you wonderful sharing of information and input!
