Ann,
There are a total of five entries for an Edward Lamb in Griffith’s Valuation, which is an index of a property tax record that covers the period from 1848 to 1864. Two of these entries are in County Louth. The first Edward Lamb was in the Townland of Killin, Parish of Kane, Co. Louth. The second Edward Lamb was in the Townland of Chanonrock, Parish of Louth, Co. Louth. Note that there is also a Town of Louth, which is in the Parish of Louth, Co. Louth. The Grimes surname is numerous, in Co. Louth, butI found an interesting entry for Thomas Grimes who owned property in the Townland of Kilcroney, Parish of Louth, Co. Louth.

Are any of the Lamb boys (i.e. second son) named Thomas?

If I were you, I would focus my search on the Parish of Louth, which also covers the Town of Louth. You may want to look at the web site of the Irish Family History Foundation which will conduct genealogical searches in Ireland:

I have used the services of the Waterford branch and found them to be reliable.
