Gerri, thank you for responding.Until recently, I could not get back farther than my grandfather Joseph.I am using Family Tree Maker and have a free subscription to Ancestry.ca for a month.Using this program and the subscription, I was able to access passenger lists, census lists etc. and able to put together a better "picture" of the Howell family.
My father was Basil Howell one of Joseph Howell's nine living children with May Forhan. The last of my dad's remaining sisters died in Sept. 2011 at the age of 86.I did some work on my family tree years ago and started again with a new program.Joseph Howell's family and my mom's family lived a few blocks from each other in Toronto. My dad Basil Howell married Genevieve Schriener and had 4 children; I am the eldest. Joseph died in 1968 at the age of 84 and May died in 1976 just shy of her 85th birthday.
I have hit a block with Horatio and Catherine. If you have more info on them I would love to have it. Horatio was born about 1841 in England and Catherine was born about 1855 in Ireland. I do not have any information about Horatio's death, but I know that Catherine died in CT, although I don't know the date.
My husband Ray & I live in Milton Ontario which is just west of Toronto. We have two children and two grandchildren. Presently, we are staying in Palmetto FL until March when we will head home.
