Bevins is a name with which I am familiar in Northern Ireland -- County Armagh. Was your group Catholic or Protestant?
Name: Wilder Bevins
Date: 10 Sep 1778
Event: Baptism
Relation: Father
Location: Berks Co., PA
Remark: Of Amity Township in Berks County.
Church: Saint Gabriel's Church
This would seem to indicate that they were in PA at least before 1778 when he baptized a child (George) who was born 28 May 1776.
Your issue in researching in Ireland is that few records exist from this timeframe. You will have to rely on history which may have been written down about the family in Pennsylvania. There is an online family tree that seems to indicate that he was born in Belfast, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, the son of James W. Bevins.
