Elizabeth Eugenie PONTET nee FLEURY (connected to MARANI)
Elizabeth Eugenie FLEURY was born about 1835 Co Dublin (more precise I don't know). In 1866 she married Henry Theodore PONTET at the Catholic church, Rathmines. Elizabeth was then residing at 16 Anna Villa in Cullenswood (now Ranelagh), Rathmines, daughter of Jean-Baptiste FLEURY. (Henry PONTET is given as at 5 Ontario Terrace, Rathmines).
Dublin PO Directory for 1839 lists Jean-Baptiste FLEURY, Lower Sackville Street, hairdresser from Paris. Another directory (can't find date) lists Jean-Baptiste FLEURY, perfumer and hair cutter, 5 Eden Quay. Index to Wills lists 1839 John (sic) Baptiste FLEURY, Intestate, Sackville Street. So far I have found no other information pertaining to Jean-Baptiste FLEURY. Other FLEURYs in Dublin found in this time appear to be decended from Huguenots who emigrated to Ireland several decades before this family. I do not even have a name for Elizabeth's mother, nor whether Elizabeth had siblings, or when Jean-Baptiste arrived in Dublin from France.
There is, however, strong connection with the MARANI family in Dublin at the time:
(1) at the marriage in 1866 of Elizabeth Eugenie FLEURY with Henry PONTET, the witnesses were a Thomas EVANS and a Teresa MARANI.
(2) Teresa MARANI was informant of and present at birth (and resident same address) of son Walter George PONTET in 1867.
(3) a Letilia Georgina Eleonora MARANI (born pre-1847 d/o Augustus C MARANI a professor of languages) married in St Thomas' CofI 1868 with a George McWADE, s/o George. The witnesses were William HARPUR & Thomas EVANS.
(3). Letilia nee MARANI and George McWADE had a daughter, Marie Eugenie, born 1880 (Synnott Place, Dubin), the informant and present at birth (and resident same address) was Elizabeth Eugenie PONTET - child bearing as 2nd name the name of the informant!
(4). The above Marie Eugenie McWADE married in 1903 at St Joseph's Catholic church, Berkeley Street, Dublin, with John Francis SWAINE.
(4) In the 1911 census, Elizabeth Eugenie PONTET was then residing with the SWAINE family at St Anthony's Road, widow, her relationship given as 'aunt' to head of family. Elizabeth died at same address in 1917, composer's widow, death declared by Marie E SWAINE.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Would greatly appreciate any additional information/help to find out more about Elizabeth Eugenie FLEURY and her parental family, as well as resolving the connection with the MARANI family.
