A lot of similarities here to my Donnelly family. My grandfather was OWEN DONNELLY m. CATHERINE O'NEILL in Co. Tyrone in 1879 & came to US (Phila.) in 1881. Settled in Locust Gap, Northumberland Co., PA. Owen worked as a coal miner. When my father was born, Owen took him to the church and had him christened THOMAS ARTHUR DONNELLY. However, my grandmother had a fit when she found out about the "Arthur" middle name, and changed it immediately to "Joseph." I've always wondered where the name "Arthur" came from in the first place! If you think there might be a connection, I'll be happy to share any Donnelly information that I have with you.
