I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are increasingly sparse, B4 1800 rare.
The earliest Clifton B rcd in all Ireland is for 1809. This surname has only a scant geneological presence; it is likely of English/Scotch origin.
It seems your ancestor's B/M/D event didn't make it into the extant Irish rcds. The DAR's vetting process is usually very good. You can accept what they have found. However, it is unlikely you will find any earlier B/M/D data.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
