I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse. For Co. Cork, only abt 1/2 of its rcds have been digitized. Therefore, your chances at this early age are less than 40%
For the surname Cazalet, there are 0 B rcds and 1 M rcd (1810) in all Ireland. From a different literary source, I found this surname in England. Due to the lack of geneological evidence in Ireland, and its existance in England in high political office, I conclude the surname is likely English and possibly French Huguenot.
Google the Foundation's name to take you to this database. Suggest you register, opt to be notified as rcds are added, and browse (free) the database. Post a reply to my Genforum msg to tell me your search results.
