Thank you so much for your help. I am new at this and learning as I go. The timeline I have for my great grandparents has a lot of holes in it. According to the census here in Maine (1900, Amey is listed to having 10 children, only 7 living, and only listing 5. First one listed b. 1854 (Amey would of been age 32), then 1857, 1859, 1861, 1865, all born in Maine. No mention where the other living two would be, those that had passed could of been in Ireland. Since they settled in the very northern part of Maine, I am summizing they came into a port inNew Brunswick, Canada, maybe lived in Canada for awhile and then moved into Maine leaving the older children staying in Canada, or maybe staying in Ireland, since it states Amey arrived in USA in approx. 1853. Amey and James are listed in the Maine census for 1860 but not in 1850. I have checked the New Brunswick Canada listing of Irish Immigrants for up to 1850 and can not find either Amey or James listed. So now I am really confused. Amey is spelled this way on her cemetary stone, her death cert. states Amy. Would you happen to know what English name Amey would be short for? James' death certificate cannot be found, the small town they lived in had all records destroyed in early 1900's when the town office burnt. Still looking for the old family bible, hoping to find it out there someday.
Again, thanks for your help and listening to my story!
