Robert Moody Ireland to Pa

Hi Chris,
I wish I did know what line he came from. In the Co. Londonderry, Ire records there is a Robert Moody early on (1600's and early 1700's) and then later on (1800's), but the gap of over 100 years in time is the ones everyone seems to want the most and they are apparently missing from Co. Londonderry/Derry.
I hired a company in Ire. this last summer to search for my own Moody family and while they came up with a lot of great possibilites to be part of my family, they could provide nothing conclusive since I was searching for Moody's during the 1750's back to around 1700 and even into the 1600's.
Those missing years may have held the key to tie all of my Moody's together but without help from folks who know their genealogy or have access to some other forms of records that did somehow how survive, we may never be able to tie our family lineages together.
I can only tell you that my Moody's who came to Boston, MA (I'm guessing or somewhere in New England), probably during the Ulster-Scot immigrations period of c1719 to c1763, showed up in York Co., ME briefly and to my knowledge may be the first time on record in the U.S. when my 5th grt. grandfather James Moody b.c1750 or before but Not after c1755, to Elizabeth DONALD (Donnell) a woman of Scottish descent.
They Disappear from the map after that but James served in the Rev. War enlisting at Ticonderoga, NY into Capt. Daniel Lane's Comp. for a term of 3 yrs. plus.He was released sometime in later 1780 or very early 1781 and 9 months from around the time of his release my 4th grt. grandfather Joseph Moody was born c1781.
By the time my family shows up on record again on Sept. 4, 1785, it is back in York Co., Maine again at the very same church in which James and Elizabeth (Donald) MOODY were married in Jan. of 1774. However on this date (Sept. 1785) Elizabeth is called a "widow".She is to be Re-baptized into this church which tells me she has away somewhere for a while and to have her 3 children baptized...Sarah, James and Joseph Moody.
We do have an exact ydna match to Moody's in Nova Scotia, CAN as well as matches (though not exact) to Moody's who were in Beaver Co., PA and probably others in nearby counties as well, and to a line of Moody's who lived briefly in PA but went South to Guilford Co., NC.
The earliest known ancestor of that Moody line (the southern one) is Thomas Moody b.c1710 who came to PA from Co. Londonderry, Ire.
I have long suspected however that we link to the Moody's of Co. Down and Armagh or Antrim, Ire. as well who I believe originally came from Scotland possibly to Co. Donegal.
The earliest known Moody ancestor for one of our Moody ydna cousins is a John Moody who didn't come to America until the mid to latter 1800's, but he came to Beaver Co., PA which may be an indication that he knew he had Moody relatives in that area who had been here prior to that time.
The names of John, James, Robert, William, Joseph, Charles and Daniel MOODY seem to be the most common among our group of ydna cousins.
Also all of our families (proven by genealogies) have married into other Ulster-Scot immigrant families. Not in all cases, but the majority of them have.
The surnames that seem to link among us are Crawford, Traill, Morrison, Kennedy, McBride, Armstrong, Anderson, Means, Ewing etc.
There are several of us working on this to hopefully one day find the missing common thread that will finally sew us all together, but we need more Moody men willing to take the Ydna test who also know they have Ulster-Scot roots and are quite certain of their genealogy as well and Willing to Share it with us.
This has been one of the biggest problems we've had are testers who don't share their family genealogies once tested and believe me there is Nothing more Frustrating then to have a Ydna Match to someone who either doesn't know their genealogy or is unwilling to communicate or join in to help you find their missing links.
Please check the Moody board here as well as we are constantly finding ~Possible~ tid bits that may help put this puzzle together and you could hold some keys to that as well.
Good Luck in your research and I wish I could be of more help but I have only just learned about the line you are searching for and understand it has been a "brick wall" line for others too, plus there are several errors with it among some other Robert Moody's who have been confused as being the one who married Mary Hutchison/Hutchinson.
Some have her first name as Margaret.
I'm not familiar enough with them to be too conversive about them though.
Anyway, happy hunting.
