My ancestor, Nathaniel Erwin, came to the United States in 1740...landing on a ship at Philadelphia PA. He went to Bucks County, PA, and then to North Carolina...in Union County, I believe. Many of his descendants are in the Durham and Raleigh area. An Erwin in Rome, GA, has written a book, "The Erwins and Related Families" that was very good. I am told former Senator Sam Erwin is an ancestor. Hope this has been helpful.
