David, Sorry for the delay. You have given us much to ponder and check out.The information you sent about the Doran/Hickey connection in the evaluation is really exciting. We finally have a place in Ireland to go back to. Are there specific years that are listed for Terence Doran to be a tenant on this land? I can't imagine that the Terence Doran in the Evaluations isn't relation because of the traditional nameing. But I will check out the Birth and Marriage records that you suggested to prove it.Hopefully it will.
We are having the Kirby siblings church records checked out but I am skeptical on finding anything.I have already done quite a lot of work at that office and don't have them.So I think that something happened and they were destroyed by a fire that happened in that church. But we will have that verified, although it may take quite awhile.
We are going to do a check of the 1850 census for the Murphy's but as usual time is a limited resource.I do have access to the Heritage Quest online. The Doran's are listed in Cherry Creek. Michael Kirby's brother is listed in Chautauqua township, but under another family so it was only by checking each page individually that it was found. We are use to doing that as we have been looking around even before there was any other way of doing it except by microfilm.
Most of the Doran's you found in the 1880 are related and are children of Patrick and Ann Hickey Doran. Matilda is one of the youngest of 7 Doran Children. The only ones I don't recognize is Phillip in Preble. They may be related but are not siblings of Terrence and Mary.
We have a Biographical Sketch of Terrence Doran and in it he mentions that he made a trip to Dunkirk in Chautauqua County after he had lived in WI for awhile. Whether that has anything to do with Michael Kirby is unknown and we don't know that he was in Dunkirk prior to his move west. But it isn't that far from the place Terrence was born in Belleville Ontario. In the Heritage quest census's, we haven't been able to locate Dunkirk in the 1850 census of NY.The sketch is written in WI and tells of Terrence,in company of Mary and her husband Michael Kirby coming to WI in 1855. It seems that the parents were already in Suamico before that.
As for the maiden name of Mrs. Maloney.I checked and still don't see any other way of looking at her hame than Kanert. It could be that an error was made in the writing of the history. I have never looked for Maloney's information at the church records but can do that when I have a day off to go check it out.
So what we do know is that Michael Kirby and his brother John lived in Limerick County Ireland and may have had a sister named Mary but don't have a specific area that they lived in.We will keep the Evaluations on hand and hope that we will come upon some information that will confirm which town that they came from.I will try to get to Door County Court House and see if that produces anything.I am also going to look at the 1850 census in NY Chautauqua CO again and also order the records you suggested in Belmullet. Would there be any Marriage and/or birth records available at the Catholic Churches of Limerick County.I don't know if I could locate one specific family with a Michael and John born about the right time without knowing the parents name ahead of time but it would be worth a try.
We are in complete awe of the multitude of help you have given us, Dave. The information about the Evaluation's alone has helped so very much. Your acts of kindness are immensely appreciated.Maxine
