Thank you.
The prevailing opinion in the replies when I posted this query at several message boards is that Anghuanam is a misprint of Aghancon Parish. However, it has also been suggested that they actually meant Aghnananagh Townland, but they have both the spelling and the level of civil division wrong.I have found a (James) Tynan family listed in Griffith's Land Valuations living in Aghancon.
Aghnananagh Townland was in Kilbride Parish, also in Kings County. So far, I have not found any Tynan families there.Anghuanam seems to be closer in spelling to Aghnananagh than Aghancon, but right now my hunch is that they meant Aghancon Parish, rather than Aghnananagh Townland. However, I am going to follow up on both leads.
John Tynan died in 1902, so that is why he is not in the 1910 Census. He fought in the Civil War in a regiment from Rockford, Illinois, and before that, he and Mary lived in Sandusky, Ohio. They came to Waterloo, Iowa, from Rockford, Illinois, after the Civil War.My great grandfather, John Patrick Tynan, also came from Belvidere, IL, (5 to 10 miles from Rockford) to Waverly, IA, (5 to 10 miles from Waterloo) a short time after John & Mary came.
I have hit a dead-end at the Atlantic Ocean on my great grandfather's line, so I am hoping that the almost identical route of migration is not just a coincidence, but indicates that John Tynan of Waterloo was related to my Tynan line. Then if I find where he came from in Ireland, maybe I'll also find my great-great grandfather's birth information at the same place in Kings Co., Ireland.
