No. Michael didn't return to Ireland, Catherine Regan I believe died in 1843 as they have a son September 06, 1843, and then September 08, 1844, Michael Marries Catherine Cronin/Crownan/Crowley. I can find no death record, or anything for her though. Michael died January 30, 1860, and I have found the record of his internment at St. Famile there in Bathurst, NB, Canada where all of the children were baptised.
I have no idea if the Michael that you found in Bandon is a relarive, or not. I have writen and asked the Catholic church for all of the McCarthy & Regan records for up to 1828 to see if I can make any connections that way. I have also written to Dunmanway asking for the same as the McCarthy DNA project has matched me up with other McCarthy's that are presently living there. I figure that since they were married in Bandon that likely means that Catherine's family was from there, and Michael's nearby. In other words, I am very much grasping at straws. Anything that might posibly get me any information. I would like to actually go to Ireland, and look for myself, but am unsure at this stage if that would be very helpful. I have recorded all of the information on all of the Irish that were even arround them, because the Irish seemed to stick real close together, and maybe finding information on some of them will eventually lead me tward my ancestors. It did work in getting me to Bandon!
Going by the Irish naming convention Michael's father may have been Thomas, and his mother Mary or Catherine, but since Michael would have it appears been 30 years old when he married Catherine Regan, he may have had a previous marriage/family. Catherine Regan's father William mother Anne. Of course none of these names are at all unique to the Co. Cork, so may not be very helpful
I really appreaciate all of the help! Anything even attempts to help are very welcome.
