Thank you for your response!I do have Mary & Nicholas' marriage license, and her name is down as KILpatrick.I hadn't considered the baptismal records though.I do know Mary died in 1912, the year her eldest son, Patrick, married a Chicago girl, Catherine Hogan, whose father, Michael, was from Ireland. I couldn't find anyone in any of the Kane County censuses who might be a relative, although I did find a court case concerning a Mary Kilpatrick and a small child, William.I intended to write off for a copy of that case. Kane County didn't have a record of her death however.
I don't think I have her birthdate of 1850 in my notes, nor did I have 1868 as a possible immigration date. That's something.I know her husband's family (The Freemans) came to America from Tipperary (Emly Parrish), but apparently they came through Canada - there is no evidence of them coming through Boston or New York circa 1842.They went to the Chicago area first, but moved on to Kane which had better farmland. There must be some connection with Chicago, because Mary's son, Patrick, seems to have married Catherine Hogan there in 1912 - there's no record of the wedding in Kane.
Thanks again so much for your efforts!
