I have a Cornelius Fleming (Connor) age 45 who left Liverpool in 1848 on ship Ashland, landing 7/21/1848 in New York. He traveled w/ wife Mary, s John,d Catherine, d Honoria, s William, s James, infant Edmond, & born at sea s Thomas.
If you use Cornelius Fleming in UK records you will find a Mary (wife) and son William Cornelius living in Liverpool in the 1850's, I think I was looking at a census-sorry I didn't save it. I do remember that she was not listed as a widow(as if her husband had abandoned her or was overseas).
We have 3 Cornelius' in our Fleming and only know that the name is family related. If you know of the reason (link) please let me know.
