Re: McLaren, McClarran / Shire - IRL>Ohio
I have recently found a Samuel and Rebecca Shire on the 1850 census in Holmes Co. OH with 4 children listed - (Mary J., George, Rebecca, and John.) Samuel was a tailor living in Berlin Twp. These parents were
born in PA; children born in OH.
I am trying to prove this John Shire, age 6, to be (my Husband's line) an ancestor.
But there are 3 "John Shire" families, I believe, in OH or at least 3 about my John Shires age of a minor. Still trying to narrow my search down to the right one.
I have John Shire born about 1846. Married in 1871 and had a famiy of 6 children.
Ola was born in June 1884 and married Joseph M. Brown in 1902. These are my husband's gr-gr-grandparents. I have a page from a Wayne Co. OH History book (copyright 1987) with A. Franks and Daisy Shire, an older sister, born about 1878. Daisy Shire divorced and married Harvey Grow and lived in Arkansas from 1935-1950.
They had siblings named: Jesse Lee, David, Edward W. and Claudia. Their parents were: John and Martha J. (McClaren spelling?) Shire or Shires. John was born in April 1846 according to 1900 census. Do not know his parents names, but the father should be from PA and the mother is from Ireland (according to 1900 census).
