Joseph Kennedy
Hi would love to have any help anyone can provide me with Capt. Joseph Kennedy of Augusta County, Virginia. I have found that he was probably born about 1700 in northern Ireland. His wife's name was Elizabeth, but don't know her last name. I believe he probably arrived in the US in Pennsylvania but can't prove that. Then he went on to Virginia. I have found many records of him there and where he donated land to build the New Providence Presbyterian Church in Staunton Virginia in 1743. His son William was an elder there at the time. I seen possible references that he had sons named John and James. These two names are listed with him on deeds and so forth, but they are never called sons like William is. One court record also states that he had 4 daughters but does not five their names.
Does anyone else have any other info on him -- his children's names, wife's maiden name, siblings, parents, etc.
I know there is a Felix that would be about his age in Augusta county at the same time. I am wondering if Felix could be a brother. I also found a John Kennedy from Ireland in the same area. He was quite older than Felix and Joseph and died in the mid 1700's. I am wondering if this could be his father.
I am very interested in this James Kennedy. I have definitely traced my lineage back to James Kennedy of Garrard County, Ky. I know that James was in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina before he went to Kentucky. I have seen "references" that lists Capt. Joseph Kennedy as his father, but can't find the definitive proof I need.
Can anyone help me with this brick wall??
Rick
Any help you could give on him in Ireland would be great!!!
