Connolly, Norton, Colhocker, Ireland, Pittsburgh
Hi, I wonder if anyone has any info on or who can help me...My Great Grandmother was born Julia Norton (Naughton) in 1881 i believe in Spiddan Ireland. She married a German man called Samuel Colhocker, they had 2 children Samuel who i think was born Sept. 1913 and Peter Nov. 1916, Husband Samuel died young leaving her a widow. Julia later met my Great Grandfather Patrick Connolly, Born i believe in Keeravn Ireland 1885, They emigrated to Pittsburgh US i think in 1911 and married 1919 in Pittsburgh, they later had 2 more children born in Pittsburgh, Mary born October 1920 and My Grandmother Julia born April 1919.
From papers i managed to get i believe they all returned to Ireland in 1922 but Julia and the 2 sons returned 1924 to Pittsburgh in order to get the boys into school, Patrick and the 2 daughters were detained till september 24 1925 on account of Patrick being illiterate, he went before the American consul in Dublin to get admission but was refused even though he had proved himself to be a steady, industrious workman, this was due to law changes.
Julia took out her first papers in 1926.
Sadly Julia never saw her husband and 2 daughters again, im not sure why or what happened next.
I know Patrick brought up his 2 daughters in Ireland, last known place i believe they lived was Galway. Daughter Julia my Grandmother went on to marry Patrick Walsh and had 8 children and later moved to UK. Mary married and still lives in Ireland Allegheny.
I believe Patrick Connolly died in 1957.
Not much is known about Julia or Samuel and Peter, i think Julia died in 1944 and was buried in Pittsburgh. I know some addresses they lived at in Pittsburgh were Alackadoro Ave. and East view street.
Please if anyone can help i would be truly grateful, thank you.
