Dear Candie,
I'll give you what info I have or at least what I've been told by my dad. My grandpa, Joe Beckworth, was born in Augusta around 1915-1918. His nickname was "Red" because of his, you guessed it, red hair.I think his dad's name was Cleophus Beckworth and he was born in the 1890's in Georgia. As far as I know, this side of the family came England in the 1600's. I could be wrong. I dont know if my grandpa was hairy or not but he was about 6'3" tall. I know I still have relatives in Augusta. My dad moved out to California when he was younger, so I've never met another Beckworth outside of my immediate family. I hope this is useful to you. E-mail me back if you'd like. Maybe the red hair will match and we'll be related. Take care and good luck. Paul
