Quigley/Flynn of Glenbarrow, Rosenallis, Queens
Am just starting to research my grandmother's family in Ireland.I have an
old letter written in 1891 which lists their address as Glenbarrow,
Rosenallis, Queens County, Ireland. My grandmother's name was Mary
Elizabeth Quigley. She emigrated to Philadelphia.I THINK she was the
illegitimate daughter of Bridget Quigley.Bridget came the Philadelphia
with her sister Margaret Quigley. Both eventually wound up in Nebraska.
Two younger sisters, Nora and Elizabeth (Lizzie) settled in Philadelphia
(also by 1891).The letter mentions several other people living in
Glenbarrow who I think may be Bridget's sisters and brothers. They are Tom,
Tim, Annie (she died in 1891 and this is a letter telling Margaret about
it), Ellen and Julia.I think the rest of the family stayed in Ireland but
they must have lost touch with the American side because the succeeding
American generation knows nothing about them.I also have conflicting
statements as to who the parents are.I'm pretty sure the mother's maiden
name was Flynn, either Catherine or Annie. The father's name is either
Joseph or Timothy Quigley.Mrs. Catherine/Annie Quigley, the mother, was
living in 1891 when Annie died. She may also have still been living in
1915.The only other information I know about them is that they are related
to the Aspul/Aspell family who MAY have lived in Kings County.
