Hi Anne--I tried to e-mail you but your mail was returned to me--so I will post here.Thank you for responding to my post.I have been fortunate enough to have "met" up with as "distant relative"in Ireland, that has been doing research on our family trees for a number of years. We exchanged information, and I was able to fill in many blanks.
Our line McKiernans came from Killymoriarty, County Cavan--near the Bawnboy area. Some of the other children, in the line of Michael McKiernan (1760-) and Judith ?, went to Cloneary, Killywillin, and Killycluggan.
I did find a Thomas McKiernan (1843) but he married a Mary McKeone and a second marrige with Anne Reilly--there are no Margaret's among their children. The other Margaret McKiernan I found was born in 1872 and married Gerald Robbins, and moved here to NY.Too late for your Margaret and wrong husband!
Since we are researching the same areas and names (and some of our line went to Australia, some to the US and some stayed in Ireland)--I will pass along some earlier information to see if anything looks familiar to you--for if our lines cross it would most likely be with this generation--
Michael McKiernan (1760) m. Judith ? , Killymoriarty
Their children:
Hugh (1795-1881) m Catherine ?, Killymoriariy----my line
Michael (1788-) , to Cloneary
Peter (1808-) m. Elizabeth Murray, to Killywillin
Fergus, to Cloneary
Bernard, to Killycluggan
I have a lot of information on my line (Hugh) but do not have the lines of the above children--anything look familiar?? If so, be happy to explore further.I will be happy to keep your information, in case anything new turns up, that might relate to your line.I hope you will do the same--thanks again for responding----Mary
