Mike
I am also intrigued with the custom of names in families.
I have one which is as follows:
Richard William Robert Tyrrell, born 1841 in Bangor Wales at Garth Terrace. His father was Richard Euclid Tyrrell born about 1804 and his mother was Charlotte Rees(Reese) daughter of Robert Rees and mother unknown.
The Richard is obvious---the William is not obvious----the Robert could be for Rees.
Thanks for your explanation of how Irish name their offspring. Here in America, it is not so clear.First and second names often mean very little.
