Hugh James FAGAN was born in 1847 near Drogheda, probably in Donore parish, county Meath, the son of Patrick FAGAN and Mary MAT(T)HEWS. In 1850 his parents moved with him and his sister Mary to Ilion, New York, in America. Later he moved to Schenectady, New York, where he was a real estate broker until his death in 1925. Hugh James FAGAN returned to Ireland at least once for a visit, probably during the last 20 years of his life. One can assume that he visited relatives there. Does any family in Ireland retain stories of a visit from this man in the early 20th century? He liked to write booklets and pamphlets describing his travels and holidays, have them printed, and distribute them to friends and relatives as gifts. Does anyone have such writing by Hugh James FAGAN?
