Hello Ralph, Thank you for your reply re Ratigan Summerhill Meath I am very appreciative.....I was only "putting out feelers" in regards to Ratigan, because they have been so difficult to find!!! In front of me I have some copies of microfiche with some of the Ratigan names on them & it looks like "ours" came from Clondoogan & it seems also Clonmahan near Summerhill (this was in mid 1800's) My g/g/grandfather Patrick Ratigan (Father Matthew.....occupation Farmer on Patrick's death certificate) Married Rose Byrne Their children 1. Matthew Bapt 3/2/1839 Westmeath Ireland 2. Maria (Mary) Bapt 1840 Meath Ireland 3 Richard Bapt 24/4/1843 Meath Ireland 4. Michael Bapt 24/11/1845 Meath Ireland 5. Elizabeth Bapt 10/3/1848 Meath Ireland 6 Rose Bapt 19/9/1852 Meath Ireland The district is Summerhill, Meath, Trim Ireland , Parish of Laracor, Town Clondoogan Other names associated with our Ratigan's are Byrne & Martin ie on the baptisms as sponsors Our folk came to Australia & settled initially in Morton Plains Victoria before taking up residence in Mountain Hut Victoria My husband & I visited Summerhill & some of the cemeteries in the area last year. No graves were found in the area & nobody seemed to know about any Ratigans!!!! However I did find 2 Byrne graves Maybe the Ratigans originated from elsewhere? Thank you for your response & I have now provided all I have . Regards Teresa Sinclair Notify Administrator about this message?
