http://irishnewspaperarchives.com/ will get you to the archives for the weekly Meath Chronicle. It contains many obituaries and other (limited) information. To search for a specific ancestor use " before and after the name (e.g. "Philip Tully"). Cost is 1/2 Euro per page in .pdf format (Adobe Reader) paid via credit card (currently you get two reviews free with free registration). Newspaper archives are available for other papers under the same ownership (Connacht, Munster, Donegal, Tuam). I just discovered this website and was able to find obituaries for my G-father (1864-1935) and his brother, which also gave me names of sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces as well as the children (names I already had). The excerpts to choose from only show the names searched for, a few (pretty meaningless) words and some gobbledygook (e.g. "ng seorqe reynolds ryaa keegan nrj neville philip tully... "). It was well worth a few Euros to get this information from a reliable source, and the two free extracts let you see what you're getting at no cost.
