Mayo to Philadelphia
I hope that someone can help my family and me.For many years we have been seeking the birthplace of my Irish ancestors.
PETER O’MALLEY (b. abt 1816-1820) and HONORA JUDGE (b. abt 1820) emigrated from Westport to Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1848.They took with them their children Margaret, Peter, Michael and Mary Jane. After settling in Philadelphia they had two more children, Annie and Bernard.
My 85-year-old father remembers visiting his grandmother’s house (Mary Jane) where the glass of one door was etched with the words “Queen of the Harvest, County Mayo”.Mary Jane O’Malley married my great great grandfather, George Kane FARIS in 1869.One witness to the marriage was Bernard JUDGE.Margaret O’Malley married Eugene McGRATH in Philadelphia and Anne O’Malley never married.
Much research and several visits to Ireland have not yet revealed any evidence of either family in Ireland. We hope someone who recognizes a family connection will contact us so that we can be successful.I can be reached at [email protected]
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Faris
